March to the forest

from Queen of the night EP by The Party Accident

/

lyrics

Swordsmen and archers assemble
Down in the castle courtyard
The clarion call of horns echo
From high on the castle's walls
March with all haste and fight bravely
The king from his charger implores
Shouts from the crowd as we're leaving
The clash of the shield and the sword

And so we ride towards the woods
We feel the darkness rise
But while in sunlight there's no fear
And wonder fills our eyes
Waving fields of dandelions
Beneath the glowing skies
And blown upon the crimson wind
The purple dragonflies

We make our camp by the river
Gathering round the firelight
Secretive songs from the minstrels
Singing the queen of the night

Where are you hiding
our lady love – our lady love
Deep in the forest
Our Queen of the night

Good food and ale in our bellies
Stories to keep us in good cheer
The feasting and the music
Helps to ward off our fear
Showing off scars from old battles
Songs of old victories we sing
Tomorrow we go to the forest
To fight 'gainst the queen for the king

Chorus

Before the road enters the forest
We pass through the villages there
The people view us with suspicion
No one reveals the queen's lair
Burn down their houses and torture
The women until the men speak
The King says with venom and passion
I'll kill any man who is weak

Chorus

And so we enter the forest...

Inside the forest night's shadow
Surrounds us despite the sun's light
Whispers and moans all around us
Noises from both left and right

And so we ride on through the woods
We feel the darkness rise
The lack of sunlight feeds our fear
And shadows catch our eyes
No more fields of dandelions
And gone the glowing skies
And blown upon the bitter wind
We hear the battle cries

So we come to the clearing...
