One two three

Once I was walking out by the running river
I met a man sitting under a tree
I sat down beside him and shared all my food and water
These are the words he said to me

Thanks for your kindness
It's much appreciated
Here in return is a gift from me
Follow the path till you come to the little cottage
Knock on the door one two three

I followed the path just as he indicated
Came round the bend and in front of me
Was a door made of oak in the front of a little cottage
I knocked on that door one two three

I heard keys and latches turning and sliding open
I wasn't quite sure who I would see
As the door opened I heard footsteps run behind me
A bang on my head and stars I see

|I woke with a start in a room full of total darkness
Feet bound and hands tied behind me
But whoever it was who had hit me and put me in here
Could not tie knots so I broke free

So if you go walking out by the running river
And see a man sitting under a tree
Just walk away and if you find a little cottage
Don't go knocking one two three

One two three
