He steps out the door and into the Saturday night
Dressed to the nines he hops on the bus into town
A couple of beers and the world is feeling just right
Problems forgotten and nothing is getting him down
A couple more drinks and the evening is starting to flow
He eyes up the girls but the chances of pulling are small
He meets with some friends who know a good place they can go
A handful of pills and soon he is lost to it all

The music is loud and the lights are shining so bright
His ears full of laughter from his friends all around
His mind is a whirl as he’s tripping on through the night
Blown away by all the colours and sound

At some point in the evening the paranoia sets in
He’s frightened of shadows and eyes that stare in the dark
The cocktail of drugs flowing round in his veins
Has turned into madness as random synapses spark
The next thing he knows is he’s stood in the taxi rank queue
Eyes to the floor case he ends up starting a fight
He gets to the front and remembers what he’s supposed to do
And he stares out the window as his cab heads off through the night

The music has gone but the lights still shine so bright
He laughs as he thinks of the colours and sound
His mind is a whirl as he’s travelling on through the night
He gets out the taxi and promptly is sick on the ground
He finds his way home and fumbles the key in the door
Climbs the stairs and makes it up to his bed
He wakes in the morning and notices his clothes on the floor
With a chorus of anvils banging away in his head

But he knows that next week he’ll be back out on Saturday night
